I'll bet you a case of scotch he lets down his new employer.

There are no Mariners lineups in the AL East.

Mnookin described Duquette almost as a savant. Painfully awkward. Amazing he rose to executive level with so little interpersonal skills.

He called him an "awful people person" not an "awful person."

Thank you. I presume most of the rest of the board read all of my post as well, but I appreciate you offering what should have been an unnecessary clarification. (Who knew, OOP defending me and me thanking him with absolutely zero snark on either side)

You're right. I read it wrong.

    Apologies.

You were posting at the same time as me.

As I said, I misread it.

    Sorry about that.

Holy cow, the Giants not only were able to unload Jonathan Sanchez, but they got a somewhat decent player for him! (Melky Cabrera)

I am beginning to think this Royals brain trust we've heard about is not so brainy. Then again Sanchez is usually pretty good in games nobody gives a crap about, so maybe he's a Cy Young award waiting to happen.

I was surprised with the move especially since Cabrera had himself a pretty decent year this past season.

And I think it's a good buy low sell high move on KC's part. Imagine if we had heard about these deal 12 months ago.

As a Giants fan I am delighted to be rid of Sanchez and cautiously optimistic about Cabrera. But -- sabermetrics alert -- Cabrera had a BABIP of .332 last season, fourth in the American League and 44 points above his previous two years. Can't see that continuing.

If .305/.339/.470 becomes .285/.325/.425, though, that's still a pretty significant upgrade for the Giants, and at a fairly low price.
