    Based on what?

Zito was in decline before the Giants signed him. Everybody saw that but them. Wilson had a lousy post-season, but he was actually better in 2010 than he was in 2009.

And regarding Hampton, well, he went to Coors Field and couldn't handle it, then his body broke down. Wilson has already been an outstanding pitcher in a hitter's park and he has shown no signs of breaking down like Hampton did.

I'm not saying the guy is a sure thing. A two-year track record as a starter is not enough. But the comparisons being made don't really hold up.

I meant in the sense that Wilson is a No. 2 starter in a market where there is no No. 1, and thus he's going to get paid like an ace. And he's not nearly worth that.

Yes, I get the sense the Halos are on the verge of undoing the non-signing of an overpriced John Lackey.

Wilson will be like a Scott Mitchell signing.

As some of you may know, Bryce is taking part in the Arizona Fall League. In his 22 games as a Scottsdale Scorpion he has posted a line of .310/.372/.607/.979....6 HR, 25 RBI. 30 of his 51 TB have come in the last 10 games, so have 4 of his HR and 15 of his RBI. In that span he has gone multi 5 times and 0fer only once....for a line of .385/.429/.769/1.198.

The AFL is known for being a hitter's haven, but even still, that's a hell of a line for someone who just turned 19.

Also, in the "Minnesota being Minnesota" category, the Twins sign Jamey Carroll for two years, $7 million, with a vesting option for 2014 for $2 million. Absolutely insane contract; how is he not a minimum salary guy at this point? I believe the BP article said he's 38.

That's what happens when you operate on a stars-and-scrubs principle. Whatever leftover money the Twins have not heavily invested in two players they piss away on Jamey Carroll -- a guy they already have about three or four players just like.

[blue]You can never have enough utility infielders! The Twins could have made the playoffs with Punto Power![/blue]

Midget utility infielders with no offensive skills. And if they can't snap up every last one here they'll go to Japan to get them.

All the 'Minnesota Love' makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

    Happy trails, T-Nish:

Now that I agree with. I figure he slides back to somewhere around his 2010 numbers, perhaps a little worse.

That wasn't the case with Zito or Hampton. They were disasters.
