Here's an article on the phallacy that HGH helps athletes:

I always thought it was useless, Manny Ramirez tried every drug he could get his hands on but didn't use HGH.

Sounds about right. Better than the Twins giving out a guaranteed deal to a utility infielder.

I'd even argue it's not all that "strategic" ... I mean, you know who you're going to pinch-hit for and you know who you're going to pinch-hit with ... the three players involved (in the first instance) have been decided upon (by and large) long before the game's first pitch.

At 1:55 Eastern Time we find out who wins the AL MVP.

    Early predictions?

Do you think Bautista finishes in the top two?

I'd vote for Justin Verlander if I were a voter but I'll have no problem if Jose Bautista wins.

    A couple of news items:

    • There will be a Tuesday news conference to announce the new labor deal:

    http://es.pn/vTfRDQ

    • Buster Olney reporting that Grady Sizemore likely headed back to Cleveland on a 1-year deal:

    http://es.pn/rqVins

    • Pirates sign Clint Barmes to a 2-year, $10.5 million deal. Finally, a replacement for Pat Meares!

That Barmes deal is fucking awful.

    Joe Nathan to the Rangers:

Two-year deal. And this means Feliz to the rotation.

Agreed. He's a scrub. Hell, that deal probably puts him among their highest-paid players.

Andre Ethier to the Red Sox for Josh Reddick and Lars Anderson. Works for both teams - Dodgers save money while getting a good replacement for Ethier while also getting a potential replacement for Loney at 1st.

Not a real deal but I'd like to start the rumor.

It would be great if the Dodgers were that insane. Unfortunately, they did resist the urge to do silly things like deal Matt Kemp or anyone else of substance this year.
