Herald says for $102 million, but still, they're not screwing around in Little Havana.

Last paragraph of the ESPN story on Reyes has this little tidbit:

Could be great. Could be an absolute disaster if Reyes breaks down again.

Reyes demanded an extra $9 million when he got a look at the new uniform he'd have to wear.

Apparently the Reyes deal is 6-106 with a seventh-year option for 22 or a 5 mil buyout

Looks like Jose is going to be taking his talents to South Beach.

I don't see Jose and Hanley getting along swimmingly.

This might be an absolute disaster. Depends on if Reyes can stay on the field.

Rasmus = young dude + talent to burn + bit of a dolt + stage father + fucked with by La Russa on top of all of that.

La Russa was the out-of-touch moron who wanted a guy with that kind of stroke to hit to the other field.

I kind of like the Reyes deal - it seems like the Werth deal, but if you're going to go high-risk on a deal, I'd rather it be with an all-star SS than an all-star OF. There is always the chance Reyes spends half the contract (or more) on the DL, but guys with the chance to be an elite SS like him hardly ever hit the open market. If you're the Marlins, better to spend that kind of cash on Reyes than a bunch of middle tier guys or arb cases.

ESPN just did a "Baseball Tonight" promo during halftime of the Monday night game, and Terry Francona was introduced as "the newest member of the Baseball Tonight team." I guess that means he's not managing in 2012. Was there ever a formal announcement to that effect, or was that it?

Can the Marlins trade Hanley back the Red Sox? He'd fit right in a clubhouse full of divas and douches. But he can play.
