I don't think Torres (who is about to turn 34 and was a career minor-leaguer until two years ago) is considered a long-term solution. But surely there would have to be something else included other than Bourjos (who's great defensively, but limited offensively) to get Wright.

As a Cardinals fan, this Pujols talk is driving me crazy. If 10 years is really what's on the table, I say let him walk. Offering a guy who's 28 or 29 a 10-year deal makes a hell of a lot more sense than a 32-year-old, especially in the DH-less National League. If Loria and the Marlins want to shell out that length of contract, good on 'em. But as much as I enjoy Pujols in St. Louis, I'd hate to see them hampered by a deal like this.

Apparently, the Nats are kicking the tires on Gio [insert hispanic name here that I forgot]. I hadn't heard of this guy until this week. They say he's a good, young pitcher for the...A's? Maybe Rizzo either A. Thinks he's out on Buerhle or B. Hopes Gio whatshisname is a good backup plan.

Gonzalez is a helluva pitcher, potentially top 10 in the AL.

And here's the latest on Pujols from Buster Olney:

I saw a game in Texas in 2010 and Gonzalez pitched for the As. Saw another game five days later in Chicago and Gonzalez pitched for the As (against Buerhle, I believe). He'd be a nice pickup for the Nats. Wonder what he'd cost in trade?

From everything I've seen, apparently the A's want a ton. Seems like the mood, at least among a handful of teams, has shifted from Buerhle-Wilson to Gonzalez. And Rizzo has said he's not trading young MLBers, only minor leaguers. So...who the hell knows. Don't the Nats have like a hundred silly catchers in the system? Maybe the A's need one.

There's some speculation that the Royals are involved in the Gonzalez talks as well (and also kicking the tires on Trevor Cahill). Per Olney, the A's are insisting on Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas or Wil Myers (KC's top prospect) being involved.

Nate McLouth back to the Pirates (one year, $1.75 million):

Just read where the A's want players with little to no MLB experience in return for Gio. Hello, Rizzo!

FYI, the Yahoo running feed seems to be a pretty good source for the happenings in Dallas.

Huston Street to the Padres for a PTBNL:

Seems like a wasted move for the Padres, who have no need for "proven relievers" in that park.
