NYDN says Marlins out on Pujols, turning attention to Prince.

And now Heyman is saying the same thing.

Jon_Heyman: #marlins already in pursuit of prince. Signs indicate cards likely to get pujols [via Twitter]

I still think the Rangers get Prince.

At $1.75 million, I think the only guarantee of a job he'd have is 4th outfielder. That's the kind of contract that the better back-up OF or fringe starters get.

Mark Buehrle to the Marlins. Four years, $58 million

Just saw it as a live report by Ken Rosenthal on MLB Network.

Not sure about Gio Whatshisname, but Gio Gonzalez has been a better pitcher than Mark Buehrle the last two seasons and he's a lot younger. Downside is he's a bit of a high-wire act because he walks too many.

Oney Guillen tweeting taunts to Chicago fans within seconds, too. Hilarious.

I like Buehrle, but as a Braves fan I consider this good news. It means no C.J. Wilson, and probably no Pujols/Fielder, either.

By the way, Bob Nightengale says ...

I doubt that that the Buehrle deal would keep them from signing Pujols or Fielder. I think they are out on Pujols because they took their best shot and it apparently isn't enough.

I guess how I meant to say it is that them committing that much to Buehrle means they'd moved on from Pujols.

    From the ESPN.com story:

Just completely making shit up about what's going on in Pujol's mind, it seems like he wants to stay in St. Louis but he also is annoyed with ownership for a perceived slight of being lowballed and wants to use teams like the Marlins to extract whatever he can get from the team.

Did anyone think Buerhle would get that much in years or $? I'm shocked.

For complete fiction, that actually makes a good bit of sense.
