Agreed. Very amateur handling of this.

Looking back, I think it might have been a done deal when the Cardinals signed Holliday. When he got $170 million for seven years -- and wasn't even close to the player Pujols is, and both know it -- Pujols might have decided to never sign with St. Louis no matter what. Unless they gave him a Brinks truck.

OC Register says it looks like C.J. Wilson is going to the Angels.

Fielder is four years younger than Pujols and Scott Boras is his agent. He'll hold out til the last minute and someone will jump.

I would venture a guess that he is more than 4 years younger.

Other reports saying this is done, too.

I don't know what I actually think is the better investment between Prince and Albert, but Prince did have the higher OPS last year and is four years younger.

If you look at this as buying home runs, how many home runs does Pujlos hit in the next 10 years? 350? 375? How certain are you that he will hit this many home runs?

How many home runs will Prince hit in the next 10 years? Is that number closer to 400? How much does the weight scare you?

If we're only counting home runs and nothing else, then I'd put Pujols down for 300 and Fielder down for 200.

Cecil Fielder's production dropped like a rock and his career was suddenly over.

And he had the same body type of his son.

Actually, Cecil was/is 6-3. Prince is barely 5-11.

BMI's surely about the same, no?

I'm amazed that they went so high on Pujols and still signed Wilson. They always seem to be just short on the really big free agents.
