Bingo. Also, this guy comes with a lot of upside. I know, this has been said with a few Japanese players already, but I truly believe this guy is going to be the real deal.

Because their starting pitching is weak, there's no one good on the FA market & they think he'll be good?

Matsuzaka came over and was an above-average starting pitcher immediately for two seasons before he got hurt.

Darvish, based on their Japanese stats, is way way way better than Matsuzaka. There's really no reason to think he's going to come over and bomb. The only real concern is if he can handle the American workload without getting hurt.

Best comment on the Punto signing I've seen comes from the Baseball Prospectus comment section: "Can't begin to understand this. Why pay $3 million to Punto when you could burn the money for heat instead?"

Oh, there are way better ones on SOSH.

My hope is that the Red Sox signed Punto as the PTBNL to finish the Theo Epstein compensation. Force Theo to take that contract as an FU.

Apparently, the Toronto Blue Jays were the highest bidders for Yu Darvish.

Wow! That's a lot of money. He should benefit playing in Colorado though.

Reds acquire Mat Latos from the Padres for pretty much their entire farm system.
