Bingo. White Sox, Phillies, then back to White Sox, Oakland and now Washington for a guy with his talent.

Looking like two years, $25 million and full no-trade according to Tim Brown from Yahoo

Who's going to spend more time on the DL? Beltran or Matt Holliday?

Mark DeRosa to the Nats, apparently.

Two years for Beltran is a steal. He's always been good when healthy.

I'd rather spend money on a guy who's going to be great but get hurt, than on someone who's going to give you 162 games of mediocrity.

The last oft-injured free agent outfielder the Cardinals took a gamble on (Berkman) worked out just fine.

A healthy Derosa is a good bench addition and if he isn't healthy, he's not costing much. Pretty much a no-risk move.

If I were an Athletics fan, the Gonzalez deal would be another one that would drive me to drink ... heavily. As a lifelong Northern California baseball observer, it's a head-scratcher.

I know it's the Moneyball way, but the A's seem to be systematically stripping their franchise of its strongest parts, which will drive all but the diehardiest fans away from the Masoleum. At the same time, they're waiting for Selig to release the results of the blue-ribbon panel's report of a possible move to San Jose. Unless A's management plans to pull a Loria if the move to San Jose is approved, I don't see South Bay folks heading to a new yard just to see the A's, new yard or not.

They got a huge haul of prospects for Gonzalez. It may be frustrating to fans, but the value was good.

We've seen this too many times. Any of those prospects who turns into a good player will be dealt immediately for another group of prospects, at which time someone will say again that they set themselves up nicely for the future.

They are trying to lose in every way from the product on the field to the closing of the concession stands. They have been sandbagging for five years in hopes of getting the hell out of Oakland.
