Haven't you seen "Moneyball?" The A's are the favorites to win the 2002 World Series.

The new CBA is very close to successfully instituting a de facto salary cap. The Red Sox intend to stay below the luxury tax threshold, and the Yankees really can't but want to get under it as soon in the future as they can.

The only reason they want to get under is the clause in the CBA says if they do, then the tax hit gets reset.

All the previous offenses get wiped out and the Yankees will be treated as first-time offenders, saving them 10 of millions going forward.

Blue Jays tried to sign Yu Darvish and Prince Fielder, and failed at both(I know, Prince is still a FA, but he won't be signing with the Blue Jays.

But don't worry, they signed Darren Oliver and Omar Vizquel. They'll sure compete in the AL East with these two guys.

Prince to the Tigers, so says Jon Heyman. Nine years, $214M.

Holy crap that contract is going to be ugly at the end if every year is guaranteed.

It is a rare, rare player that is ever worth tying your team's future to for a decade.

And Prince Fielder is not that player. He's a great hitter, but he's likely to age poorly, and in the meantime he gives back about 20% of his offensive value in the field and on the basepaths.

Fielder and Cabrera will probably alternate at 1B/DH.

I could see seeing if Cabrera wants to move to 3B to replace the utterly useless Brandon Inge.
