I'll offer you Adam Dunn for Justin Verlander. It's win-win. You get walks. I get wins. Pull the trigger on the deal.

Yanks signed IF/OF Bill Hall to a minor-league deal today worth $600K with $600K worth of incentives based on number of games he plays with the big club it looks like, according to teh Twitter.

Jose Reyes cuts his hair then sells it for $10,200 to benefit The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida.

You know baseball season is upon us when we get our first Rich Harden injury report:

I feel bad for Harden. Good Canadian kid, just can't stay healthy.

Yankees also signed Russell Branyan yesterday. Another no-risk move. And the way he mashes the ball at the Stadium, maybe it'll actually work out.

  9. Bill Hall is a shitty ballplayer. Take it from a guy who watched him in Houston - when you can't start for the worst Astros team ever, you damn well better not find work in New York.

Enjoy the 7/1 K/BB ratio, Yanks

If he stinks, he won't make the team. If he can come back & be somewhere in between the guy he was last year and what he was a few years back, it's a steal. I said the same thing about Garcia & Colon last year & they're doing with this spot this year what they did with the #5 starter last year. I have to admit, it's not a bad plan B. I still wouldn't like it for a SP spot because they have minor leaguers who I'd rather see get a shot. At DH against righties all they have in the farm is a 28 year old AAAA player. I like the approach.

There's no such thing as a bad one-year contract (particularly if it's a minor-league deal).

The Giants brought Bill Hall in last year after the Astros released him, on the theory that in Sanchez's absence and with their lack of alternatives, he was better than nothing. A month later, it turned out he wasn't better than nothing.
