Now, as for my reaction, I would like to point out that the WWE has no idea what they're doing at this point and giving the belt to Del Rio just TWO WEEKS after Cena won it is proof that the title is currently worthless.

At least Cody brought back the white IC belt though. That was awesome.

I called this ending in a PPV Pick'em thing I belong to.

Del Rio by Pin after mega interference is what I think I wrote.

But he won it before miz and truth hit the ring.

Well, I think they kind of know what they're doing - it seems like they're trying to pivot back to the original Punk vs. Cena storyline, with outsiders vs. company men, except with R-Truth and Miz filling the role of Punk. I don't really think it's working that great though. R-Truth and Miz, a big part of their strength is mic work, and if you're going to have them be "fired" and jumping people, presumably they aren't going to get a ton of mic time.

The one way I can see this working is if they form a faction, a la the NWO, by incorporating Punk, maybe Christian (but definitely not Otunga; angle would immediately lose credibility). Of course, WWE just tried that a year or two ago with Nexus, and it didn't work because the rival group never went over. My fantasy booking to get it over with the fans: Have R-Truth win one belt, the Miz wins the other, and then the next week on a supershow, have them destroy both belts. Anarchy and fun!

If they're not going in the direction of a faction, then yeah, I have no idea what the eff they're doing. The existence of a Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara match on a PPV suggests that you're probably more correct than I am, Schiez. (By the way, I still like my idea for them - make them wrestle as a tag team.)

My one other comment from the PPV: Michael Cole is insufferable when he whines and complains. I understand he's kind of a heel announcer, but he is essentially Skip Bayless or Jay Mariotti out there, and he makes me want to mute the channel. Booker T is worthless out there as well; it's time to end the experiment with him. Is Steve Regal any good? Read that he was announcing for NXT, whenever the last season of that was. I feel really bad for Jim Ross, who you can tell at times it just exasperated by what's going on at the announce table, and it doesn't feel like he's playing a character.

You best address me as your new U.S. Champion, Jelly ;)

If anyone else wants in on this pick'em thing that my friend started it's pretty cool for wrestling fans. You predict the right stuff and you're named champ for that month or so. Shoot me a PM if you want.

  6. Nice to see WWE treats its biggest belt like a damn library card....two weeks and return it back. Off the top of my head, that has to be at least the seventh title change this year alone.

Or in the last 2 1/2 months. http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_53879.shtml

They've gotten as bad as they were in the late 90s.

If you want the belt to mean anything, you can't be having title switches every two weeks.

Right now, this is how I'd rate the belts.

    1. Intercontinental -- It's been defended and retained by Rhodes a few times in the last month or so. It's getting some solid credibility, even if he wins in somewhat sneaky ways.
    2. World Heavyweight -- Keeping the belt on Henry gave this belt some more credibility Sunday.
    3. Tag Team titles -- Tag team division is relevant, at least for now. Titles actually mean something.
    4. WWE title -- Swapping the belt seven times in 2 1/2 months is TNA-like. Bad. Very bad.
    5. U.S. -- When was the last time Ziggler defended?

As a longtime fan of the IC title, I'm *loving* this. Rhodes bringing back tradition (with a twist) with the classic white belt, and defending it basically all the time via a variety of means...basically like a classic heel IC or TV champion.

And it seems like, for a long time, the US title is only "defended" if it's changing hands.

They might have swapped the WWE bunch a lot anyway (remember, the World title has gone Edge-vacated-Christian-Orton-Christian-Orton-Henry since Wrestlemania). But they booked themselves in a corner when the Punk leaving angle caught fire. Next thing you know, he's leaving and they do a tournament and then they bring Punk back right away so they gotta set up Punk-Cena so Cena gets the belt and here's Del Rio who's been booked to win one of the big titles since WM, and you've got that tour of Mexico coming up. Next thing you know, you've moved the title damn near every week.

Didn't Ziggler defend against Zack Ryder last week? But before that, who knows.
