Which means he'll be back by Survivor Series with his "broken neck".

Oh well, you live by the sledgehammer, you get fucked up by the sledgehammer.

I just saw bits and pieces of Raw tonight, but I just wanted to say I loved Cena's retort to Laurinaitis picking his partner: "Just as long as it's not a guy carrying a skateboard."

Johnny Ace: The skateboard joke that lives forever.

And the thing is, probably 95 percent of the crowd has no clue what Cena is referring to.

Punk made a skateboard reference too. Neither got any reaction from the live crowd, though the chat I was in loved it. They didn't get the Brian Pillman "I respect you, bookerman!" reference either. That's the problem with inside-heavy promos; just because you were there doesn't mean your audience was. It'd be like Attitude Era-DX making jokes about Sammartino-Zbyzsko

Since they have WCW's library, they probably should do a skit where Cena is in the ring, Laurinaitis comes out, and Cena mocks him by showing a Dynamic Dudes clip on the Titantron. The crowd would probably enjoy it.

And ironically enough, Laurinitis was the guy who invented what eventually became the Stone-Cold Stunner/Diamondcutter/RKO.

    Like this one:

I can imagine the fun that would be had poking at the outfits they wore and the "Ride the Neon Wave" sign.

    Or this one:

YouTube has a treasure trove; they should have plenty to work with using the WCW library.

Check out "One Ring Circus: Extreme Wrestling in the Minor Leagues." Found a copy at one of my local libraries. About 140 pages, black-and-white photos and short text. The text isn't anything special, but the photos tell a good story. It's about eight or nine years old and focuses on minor-league wrestling in Western Canada: http://www.amazon.com/One-Ring-Circus-Wrestling-Parallax/dp/1551521326

I've watched most of "Card Subject to Change" on Netflix. Pretty good stuff, although I couldn't muster up much sympathy for Trent Acid.

Don't know how many of you have heard, but Barry Windham suffered a massive heart attack during the past week and is in intensive care. His dad, Blackjack Mulligan, originally said he was "near death," but then reported he had shown some improvement.

Best wishes to a guy who was one of my favorites when I first started following pro wrestling in the mid-80s -- at least until he turned on Luger and joined the Four Horsemen. Of course, that happened when I was still in my mark phase.

Didn't hear it, but yeah, I always thought he was one of the most underrated stars in the business for a few years. Today, he probably would have gotten a run with the top belt in one of the big organizations for a little while, but except for a brief NWA reign when no one gave a shit, he never was THE top guy. Hope he pulls through.
