    And Mason won.

Tonight's win against No. 1 Duke is probably fourth or fifth on Larranaga's greatest wins list.

Look what happens when Duke plays a true road game.

That reads like he's already begun to take advantage of that edict.

Miami fans rushed the court and I guess it's cool, beating #1 by 27 points is rushable. Beating the bastards that have beat you the most is worthy. But it would be so much cooler if they just applauded and walked out.

When Lefty coached Maryland the Duke students would all sit in the stands and quietly read newpapers. I liked that. They hated Lefty, always called him stupid, dumb. They had that picture of Lefty's head with the fuel gauge marked empty. Always thought it showed Duke's ignorance, Lefty graduated from Duke.

Well Duke can be tough to get into, but not that tough to graduate from after you do.

Southern Miss spotted Marshall an early 3-0 lead on the opening possession of the game, then outscored the Blundering Herd 47-4 over the next 13-plus minutes. Nobody around here had ever seen anything like it. USM ended up winning 102-46.

Division II, my ass! It's NAIA, brother, and don't you forget it.

In all seriousness, that is the dubious legacy of Larry Eustachy, who somehow thought playing cupcakes would make his team better. This year, USM played Spring Hill and William Carey from NAIA, two series that are holdovers from the Eustachy era.

Southern will probably keep playing Carey, since it's a crosstown deal and thus makes for good neighborly relations (and a pretty decent gate), but I would think that's the only non-D1 team they'll play in the future.
