Not quite. NCSU should have done a better job down the stretch, but Chapel Hill dug itself an enormous hole ... too big to dig out of.

    Thank goodness ...

Heels can flat shoot. They just can't play D in the paint very well.

Roy can recruit. Roy isn't known for being a stellar coach.

If he doesn't have more talent, it can be a struggle. While that's often the case, Roy isn't as capable of closing the talent gap or exploiting matchups as well as most of his colleagues.

And if he doesn't have a stellar point guard, the house of cards tumbles in a hurry. Marcus Paige is showing positive signs, but still has a long way to go.

It's going to be interesting to see how Andy Kennedy manages to fuck up a 17-2 start and land in the NIT.

One off week in this sad sack lead could do it. New motto: SEC hoops: Almost as good as the A-10!

Did you notice Jarnell Stokes outrebounded the Crimson Tide by himself? That frontcourt is a fucking joke.

Also, I was way off about Kentucky being a lock. They're going to need a legitimately strong finish to make the tournament. At this point, three teams seems likely.

It makes it tough to figure out if Florida is great or overrated. I think of them similarly to lots of Duke teams from the 2000s - when they're shooting well, they're close to impossible to beat, but it will just take one cold game in the tournament for them to get knocked out by an inferior team.

Florida clobbered Marquette, Wisconsin and Missouri and hung close in its two losses, both to very good teams in Kansas State and Arizona. Plus, the talent level is legitimate. The Gators are capable of a Final Four run and should at least make a third consecutive Elite Eight. Billy Donovan's NCAA tournament résumé is pretty well burnished.

What's sad is that November win against Villanova actual looks meaningful now. But not enough to disguise the back-to-back turds against Mercer and Tulane. Next year is big dance or bust for Anthony Grant.

And never discount Florida's ability to choke in the early rounds.

Good win for Indiana. Home game, but still. Held serve.

    Got a call or two.

Had to have this one. Coach Checkers' mettle will be tested soon enough.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the GIF of the Ole Miss guy is the greatest thing I've ever seen. I could watch it all day.
