    You never know.

But the score remains No. 1 seed 108 (or 112, don't know if last year's were added in), No. 16 seed 0.

Except a 16 this year would equal the fifth seed at the county tournament.

Yeah, don't see it being any more likely to happen this year unless some decent small conference school, like Belmont, for example, gets screwed.

Lunardi does have Florida Gulf Coast, which beat Miami, as No. 16 though. That would be a shitty draw for some No. 1, but I don't see how a team with an RPI just outside the top 100 and a win over RPI No. 2 wouldn't land at least on the No. 15 line or higher.

Does Gonzaga have a chance to be the overall No. 1 at this point?

A 16 seed will not win this year. Zippy chance.

This is an article sure to boost Bubbler's annoyance with all things Butler.

    No chance.

    Schedule will only hurt them.

Agree. Last night was another example ... Bulldogs were up double-digits over a completely overmatched Pepperdine team five minutes into the game, and Few pretty much played his bench for most of the second half.

This is Gonzaga's problem ... they play a great nonconference schedule each year, but then face lesser competition the final two months before the tournament, while other teams are grinding it out through tough conference slates like the Big East, ACC and Big 10.

Although if Illinois rights the ship, it makes Gonazaga's home loss to the Illini look (slightly) better.

If I'm on the selection committee, the Bulldogs are a 3 seed (assuming they win out).

I read the first paragraph and promptly rushed to a trash can to throw up.

Was it you who said they're becoming the Duke of the Midwest? Whoever said it was spot-on.

Did Gonzaga play a great nonconference schedule? They might end up only having faced three teams in it that will make the NCAA tournament: Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Butler.

My anger has yet to subside. I hate the Illini.

And I hate that my alma mater has a coach I don't really believe in. Can't imagine Crean ever coaching third-place talent to a conference title. Can't imagine him making halftime adjustments.

Yeah, as it turns out, West Virginia and Oklahoma are down from previous seasons. Illinois was unbeaten when the Illini visited Spokane and have tumbled since (last night notwithstanding).

But again -- year in and year out, the Bulldogs schedule a bunch of big-conference teams in December, then play overmatched WCC squads (other than St. Mary's) down the stretch.

Not the best situation heading into the one-and-done NCAA tourney.
