Not lose to two absolute dogshit teams?

It couldn't come down to Duke having one fewer loss and more good wins?

Dude, Florida Gulf Coast is 18-8 and leads its conference. Not a juggernaut, but not "absolute dogshit." That game was on the road in November and Miami didn't have Durand Scott and just had a horseshit night shooting the ball. (29 percent). Indiana State is 16-8 and is tied for first in the Missouri Valley and has routed both of the teams its tied with, Creighton and Wichita State. These are not "absolute dogshit" teams.

People who think Indiana State is dogshit are too lazy to look past the brand name conferences, and are also guilty of discounting Miami because they aren't "supposed" to be this good within a brand name conference. If UNC or Maryland had the same résumé, including carpet bombing Dook, no way in hell is this even a debate.

The fact that Miami was missing players has to be considered, but we have to remember this isn't a debate over whether Miami should be in the top 25. It's about whether Miami should be No. 1. Indiana State and FGCU aren't dogshit teams. They're good teams. But No. 1 teams typically don't lose to two mid-majors.

Ken Pomeroy's ratings, calculated to figure out how good rather than how accomplished a team is, place Miami at No. 8.

    1. Florida
    2. Indiana
    3. Louisville
    4. Michigan
    5. Pittsburgh
    6. Duke
    7. Syracuse
    8. Miami

Every bracketologist out there that I've seen has ISU in the field. They're getting top 25 votes. Ruckus might have ignored them, but no one else is.

They do, however, blast the previous No. 1 team by 30 points.

Also, they haven't lost since Christmas day.

I know. But that might just mean that the previous No. 1 team really didn't deserve to be the No. 1 team.

The Maryland win was a huge get for Virginia. Now they just have to take care of business against Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, at BC and at home against Maryland, and sneak out a win in the other games (vs. Duke, at UNC, at Miami, at FSU). The question isn't good wins. It's bad losses, and Virginia just can't take another one. UVa is very capable of beating Duke at home or UNC at the Dean Dome.

And don't forget, UVa was ranked 17th last year and Tech was 0-4 in the ACC when Tech beat UVa at JPJA. I know Bennett isn't taking tomorrow lightly.

I started out the year thinking Pitt wouldn't really do much. The more I watch them, the more impressed I am. I don't think there's a better passing team in the country. They don't have a major weakness, but as with most Pitt teams of the past decade, they don't really have a go-to scorer, which will become a problem at some point in the tourney. Also, Adams is the most skilled center they've had in a long time. Assuming he stays for a couple years, he's going to be a stud.
