Leave it to Dick to point out how great a win against Notre Dame must be.

Are you going to contest that that's a good win for a semi-mid-major bubble team to have?

Great game in East Lansing last night. Watched like a Final 4 game, start to finish.

He won't win POY, but Oladipo might be the best overall player in the country right now.

It was an outstanding game, with the broadcast marred by Vitale's incessant politicking for Indiana to recognize Bob Knight by re-naming Assembly Hall.

They might need to retire Vitale or short of that putting him on the best games.

I didn't understand a fucking word he said last night. His voice is shot to hell, so when he's screaming to be heard above the crowd it just sounds like fucking white noise. It is really off-putting and ruins the broadcast. This sounds silly, but ESPN owes it to their audience to provide announcers you can understand.

Root, root, root for the local university. If they don't win it will look good on a semi-mid-major bubble team's résumé.

    Indeed.

Most satisfying win since beating UCLA in 1992 for the Final Four. Which shows how long we've been in the wilderness.

    How soon you forget.

    Duke in the '02 tournament.

Kentucky a year ago at home.

Duke in 2002 was great, but it also led to Mike Davis being coach for four more years. That felt at the time like it should have been Knight's accomplishment, so it was bittersweet.

Kentucky last year . . . I had no doubt whatsoever. This group turned the corner in the NC State game, and was set up to beat Kentucky. That was a great moment in the journey. Last night was the moment that validated all of the "We're Back!" t-shirts.

Kentucky was getting through level six for a piece of the Triforce. Last night, we silver arrowed Ganon to death.

Put him on the Hall of Fame, on the condition he retire. He's been playing the part of color man for years.

Does he have any contemporaries left in the game?
I miss Dick and Billy, still

    I get it.

Those games were satisfying because they were upsets.

But there's another kind of satisfaction about being No. 1 and validating it like last night.

Vitale was fluffing Oladipo last night like he was Marilyn Chambers on the trapeze.

The late collapse and loss at Brown over the holidays probably keeps Providence off the bubble, but the Friars have won four straight (including a bitchslapping of ND Saturday) heading to 'Cuse tonight. Now there's the team nobody wants to play at MSG next month. It took Cooley about a season and a half, but he now has them playing defense we haven't seen around here since the '90s.
