This is accurate. Maryland might end up being the surprise team in the country this year. Most of the country does not yet realize how good Alex Len is, this guy is a starting NBA center for many years. And the NCAA ruling Dez Wells immediately eligible after his transfer was also huge for them. Those two guys completely transform that team.

And, considering much of the rest of the ACC (minus Duke) is blowing chunks this year, I don't see many left on their schedule who can beat them. Believe it'll be Duke and the Terps battling it out for the ACC this year.

Oddly enough, Zeller seems to do it MORE against the North Carolinas and Kentuckys than the Sam Houston and North Dakota's. His best statistical games tend to be against the big boys. The kid seems to defer to his teammates more against the patsies, then takes over when it counts.

I quite enjoy watching Zeller play. Not yet sure how good his skills are, but I've never seen another 7 footer who runs the floor like he does. And I don't mean speed, I've seen plenty other big men who had more straight line speed and athleticism, but I can't say I've seen any his size who run as MUCH as he does.

The guy is a perpetual motion machine, he frickin SPRINTS up the court on damn near every. single. possession. He's nearly 7 feet tall, yet the first guy for either team down the court on nearly every break.

I can't imagine how exhausting it must be for big men used to plodding up the court to save their breath trying to guard that guy.

    Bullock, I think, is good.

UNC will be just fine. I've seen 'em play 3 times this season. The talent is there. They'll start figuring it out. They were down 27 to Butler, too, but almost came back to win that thing -- or at least send it to OT.

They're still 5-2 -- those 2 losses to the best team in the country and to a program that played in the title game 2 years in a row.

Me too. Kid kept plugging in the D-League until he got called up by the Suns. Good for him, for awhile it looked like he was destined to serve the "Cooper Manning" role to Peyton and Eli, but he stuck with it.

If he can stick for another year, there might be three Zeller brothers in the NBA at the same time next year. Has that ever happened before?

Caldwell Jones and 3 of his brothers played in the NBA, not sure if all 4 at the same time though.

    A ton of siblings:

They did not come close to coming back against Butler. You saying it over and over doesn't make it true. And Bullock is a spot-up shooter who is only their number 2 scorer out of necessity - a necessity that proves they're not all that good.

Good calls by Vers and Xan. I'm impressed. Forgot about the Barry and Jones boys.

And, considering the Barry boys also have a Hall of Famer daddy, I'd say they definitely win NBA "family" wars.

Caldwell, Major and Charles Jones played in 1983-84 and 1984-85. Charles only played one game in 1983-84, though.

They were back within 6 of Butler with a few minutes to play -- with the ball, until they turned it over or missed a shot (can't remember).

    From Yahoo:

I'll admit to not remembering it getting that close. That still doesn't hide the fact that this is a team with one really good player and a bunch of other guys who don't fit well together.

They were never going to win against Butler. They got their clock cleaned. Don't be misled by a sequence you see in almost every single NBA game, for example, when the team down by 25 cuts it to single digits before the better team gets serious again.
