Gonzaga is also one point from being 0-3 vs. ranked teams.

That was indeed the buzzer-beater loss, or close to it. Stockton's kid threw the ball away on an inbounds to set up the winning shot.

But can you see any time in this group winning six straight? And, yet, someone will.

That's what happens when your lottery-pick center gets his lunch money taken by a different freshman every time out. :D

Gonzaga might since it's the first time in its history and it's spent the past however many years as college basketball's Little Engine That Could.

    Syracuse has one title.

That Alford team was No. 2 a couple times, and No. 3 going into the NCAAs.

Did somebody just lose an at-large last night? Middle Tennessee, 28-4, 20something RPI, #2 OOC SOS, loses to Fla. International in the Sun Belt semis.
Speaking of FIU, young Pitino might have a bigger bald spot than the old man.

As I've stated several times here, Gonzaga is not the best team in the country. Probably among the top 6.

Other than St. Mary's -- who I think will give GU a hell of a test tonight -- the rest of the WCC is dog meat.

Unlike college football, in hoops a team that dominates an overmatched conference has a chance to prove they're the best in the tourney.

In the Sweet 16 it will get interesting. Let's say the Bulldogs face an upper-level Big East or Big 10 team that can play zone and neutralize the scoring of Olynyk and Harris inside. I'm anxious to see if GU can overcome that challenge.

But could anyone have guessed Syracuse's final ranking the year they won the title?

I just think rankings are something to talk about once the year starts, then they are forgotten when the tournament ends.

I just remember they were a 3 seed.

The rankings are just a conversation point, yes. Forgotten the moment the tourney begins.
