2012 College Baseball- Road to Omaha

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Armchair_QB, May 27, 2012.

  1. He definitely walked in toward the batter, but the ump was quick to step toward them to make sure it didn't escalate.

  2. I'm not necessarily disagreeing that they should have shaken hands, but I don't think it makes them classless. It happens. As best I can recall, only a handful of N.C. State players shook hands with Florida after that game. The vast majority sat stunned in the dugout.

If that's the case it was not only classless, it was stupid. Like I said, you're hanging by a thread as it is. You catch a break with the picked-off runner, the last thing you need to do is flush it down the toilet by putting another guy on base. And from the Stony Brook perspective, you want to drive that nail in the coffin. There's a huge difference between a six- or seven-run lead and a five-run lead.
There's a time and place for plunking someone and letting them know it. That sure as hell wasn't it.

Fantastic track-down and catch by the Oregon LF there.
Kent State down 3-2 in 8th thanks to plays like that one.

The coaching staffs shake hands after every game. There was as quick glimpse of the LSU & Stony Brook staffs doing just that during the celebration.

Not sure if the players are supposed to shake at the end of the series or not but I do know they don't shake hands when one team is dog-piling in the middle of the fucking infield. Again, what the fuck were the LSU kids supposed to do while SBU was celebrating?

Yeah, that'd be pretty sightless for anyone in bayou country to call for PaulM's head. He's been a breath of fresh air after the Smoke Laval depression. Everyone can't win it all, all the time.
Damn any fan that calls for a coach's head, who's done as much as this coach has.
    Damn 'em!

    Bobby Hebert begs to differ.

  9. I really thought LSU should have gone to Jarrett Lee much earlier in the game. Terrible coaching. I feel like I should make this post at least a minute long, but I just can't do it.

I'm happy Stony Brook won and no, the LSU coach doesn't need to be run out to the city limits on a rail. Sometimes you just get beat by a good team. Don't know if Stony Brook will be able to make a ton of of noise at the CWS, but they have some talented players (two guys taken in the top 3 rounds, I think they said) and I'm glad they got there.

No, no, I don't think Mainieri should be fired either. But I've come to realize that LSU fan expectations in baseball are Omaha or bust; in football, it's BCS Championship or bust. Anything less will be viewed by some as a disappointment.

Maybe I listen to too much local talk radio...

Local talk radio being hyper-sensitive? Say it ain't so!
