What's the record for No. 1 seeds not making the super regionals? Four have already been eliminated and four could be done by the end of action today.

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but the ACC isn't exactly covering itself in glory.

Six No. 1 seeds are out -- three from the ACC.

Wahoos rally twice today, fall one run short each time and will watch Oklahoma and App State play for a spot in the super.

I went to the Appalachian State game at UVA today. The Cavaliers are anemic on offense and have no starting pitching. App committed four errors, balked two runs in, hit three batters, made a big base running blunder at first, the head coach got ejected for so much as leaving the dugout, and UVA still managed to lose 6-5. Hard to lose when you're given 31 outs. I havent seen a scoresheet, but I guess only one of those five runs were earned.

The ACC, a tradition like no other. Constantly overrated and sucking in the NCAA tournament since 1955. Never in college baseball has a conference given so many advantages year after year failed so consistently.

Wonder if they'll work the concession stands and sell programs to make a few extra bucks for the program?

I was just happy that Austin Peay (the school where my dad's the Faculty Athletic Rep) managed to come back and beat Indiana State and Fullerton in elimination games before getting put out by Oregon in the finals. Way to rep the OVC, Govs! ;D

Heh. There are a lot of valid jokes to be made about UVa's athletic programs, but "poor" isn't one of them. There's a reason all the upwardly mobile teams in Charlottesville wanted Ty Grisham to play for them. UVa's stadium isn't named after Grisham like the field at St. Anne's-Belfield, but those legal novels still did a lot of good for the Wahoos.

  12. A quick count reveals at least 11 ACC teams (five different schools) went to the College World Series in the past six years. I'm hard-pressed to call that sucking.
