At least Zimmerman was smart enough to lie about it after he hit Hamels.

And can someone explain to me why "old school baseball" players used to bean rookies? I mean, it's obvious that it used to happen all the time. I'm just not sure why. And why did Hamels think it was his place to be the one to do it? Who chooses that? How come a Dodgers or Diamondbacks pitcher didn't do it first? Are the Pirates and Reds pissed because now they don't get to be the ones to bean the rookie?

Sometimes, baseball is the dumbest fucking sport on the planet.

Why is Rizzo's reaction comical, other than your clear hatred for the Nats? He's not allowed to react to a guy throwing at his player? Zimmermann (two n's on the pitcher) didn't start anything.

The universal reaction seems to be Hamels did something stupid and then did something more stupid by talking about it.

I don't have a problem with Rizzo reacting to a guy throwing at his player. He was sticking up for his guy. I dig that. But it was a little much, I think.

On the slo-mo replay, it looked like Zimmerman's throw hit Hamels right on the shin, too. Ouch.

Y'all need to find more competitive leagues. He was gone before yesterday's outburst in all three of mine.

If you have Youk or Kung Fu Panda and a CI position, I could see grabbing him, but I would rather not be starting a rook in a ML league, and that includes Harper.

Not my first choice, either, but you're going to see it quite a bit in deeper or stronger leagues.

Yeah, I'm in a 12-team league with full major-league rosters, so 25 players each plus a DL slot. You're talking about 310 players on the rosters at any given time. So Middlebrooks was picked up last week in my league. Hell, I drafted Bryce Harper.

Harper's hitting third for Major League team.

If he's not rostered and starting, I want in your league -- for money.
