I've always thought beaning referred to getting hit in the head. The Hamels-Harper tete-a-tete was more of a plunking in my book.

Josh Hamilton has three homers tonight for the Rangers, who lead Baltimore 7-1 in the 7th. After Texas won 14-3 last night, looks like the Orioles' 15 minutes might soon be up.

EDIT: Texas got thru the 5-hole at the end of the 7th, so they'll have to get at least one guy on base in the last two innings for Hamilton to get a shot at four.

He did it! Fourth two-run homer in the top of the eighth, all of them scoring Elvis Andrus.

Everyone tripping over each other to start threads ever time a pitcher hasn't given up a hit through 4.2, and that's all the notice 3 HRs with a chance at a fourth gets before it happens?

    Weak sauce.

It's only been done 16 times in MLB history, whereas there have been 21 perfect games. I think you're right.

    I'm on the case.

Cubs' Dempster throws 7 IP, 1 ER, to raise his ERA to 1.02.

He gets a no-decision and is still winless for the season.

4 home runs in one game? Big whoop. Albert Pujols is getting a helluva lot more money to just hit one every 4 weeks.

David Robertson gets the first save for the Yankees since Mariano Rivera's injury. Not exactly comforting if you are a Yankees fan as he loaded the bases before closing it out.

He notoriously puts runners on base (usually via walks), but he misses a lot of bats. That wasn't all that unusual of a performance for him.

He's got a career WHIP of 1.38 but he strikes out 12.2 per 9. His nickname is Houdini.

I don't think that career WHIP is a good indication of the pitcher Robertson is now. He was bad as a rookie in 2008 and mediocre in 2009 and 2010. In those seasons, his WHIP ratios were 1.46, 1.37 and 1.51. That is not the pitcher he has been since the start of the 2011 season. Robertson had a 1.13 WHIP to go with his 1.09 ERA in 2011 and a 0.82 WHIP so far this season. He still hasn't given up a run in 2012.
