Wow. That was stupid. Could be even worse if MLB rules that he intended to hit the ump with the helmet. (Looks more like he fired it on the way to argue, but didn't actually mean to hit him).

Don't think I've ever seen an ump look so terrified. Kid's in trouble.

it hit the ump but he didn't throw it at him. if it bounces the other way it doesn't hit him. 5-7 games.

Didn't Delmon Young get 50 games when he tossed the bat at the minor league ump?
This seems like it ought to be in the same ballpark. Even if he didn't hit him directly, he threw it in the ump's direction. There was some degree of intent there and it was reckless.

Was there a firecracker in that helmet? Umpire's reaction looks exactly like that.

was thinking of that, thought it was Elijah Dukes. IIRC he was further away and looked more like he was throwing it at the ump. this looks like Lawrie is spiking the helmet and it bounced at the ump.

Dude was completely out of control. He should be glad that George Zimmerman wasn't behind the plate.

An infielder on a New York baseball team got two more hits today to raise his average to .408 on the season. Of course, David Wright has an unfair advantage since Kevin Long isn't his hitting coach :D

Manky wishes to remind you that Jetes nailed more provably, demonstrably hot babes than David Wright ever did.

At this point I don't think Wright would argue with that. He does have time to catch up though.

Agreed. No way Lawrie should get 50 games, but I wouldn't be shocked by a couple of weeks.

Y'all went to bed too early and missed Mickey Hatcher finally getting canned by the Angels.
