    Apparently snapped back to normal.

However, he got a two-day vacation during which he's undergoing tests.

Maddon calls it a "pussy move".

Kimbrel was very, very good in that inning, but if you want the dominant inning of the year, I give you Justin Verlander's eighth inning in Cleveland on May 24. Verlander was pissed off because the slumping Tigers were losing 2-1, Leyland and Tom Brookens had been thrown out and he "was trying to light a fire."

Coming into the inning, he had already thrown 106 pitches, so this wasn't a closer saving everything for one inning. He struck out Choo, Kipnis and Cabrera on 11 pitches. After a relatively routine four-pitch strikeout of Choo, he got Kipnis on three straight swinging strikes - fastballs of 98, 100 and 101. Cabrera took a 100-mph fastball and an 82-mph curveball for an 0-2 count, took a high fastball at 102 - Verlander's 116th pitch - and then was frozen by an 84-mph curveball.

And that was the start *after* he took the no-hitter into the ninth.

One of the stories I saw said Maddon was told he could challenge one Nats player in return for his player being ejected. But does he not have that ability all the time? It's not like a stick challenge in the NHL, where if the stick is legal, the challenging team gets a penalty, or at least I wouldn't have thought so.

Kind of a dick move by the Nats.

i pay virtually no attention to the n.l., learning a bit only when inter-league play commences. i could not have named who the closer for the braves was before lst night. all i have to say is: KIMBREL IS AMAZING. when he's getting his curve/slider over batters hav no chance. a blind man could see that.

lord knows if he has staying power but what i saw was the most dominating, unhittable, sick-stuff, holy crap perfomance i can ever recall. th guy looks more unhittable than mo rivera in his early years.

just WOWZA. judging by his numbers in the last year and a half i take it this is his norm, yes? ??? ??? ??? ???

Not sure I agree. You know the rules. It's not THAT hard.

And that's fair. But stil....c'mon....kind of a dick move.

Anyway, an even bigger dick move by Davey would be to keep CMW in the rotation.

It's a dick move because the Nats knew that Peralta was cheating. And how would they have known that? Because he was cheating when he pitched for them too.

Kimbrel has 15 consecutive scoreless appearances (1 inning each). He's allowed 5 base-runners (3 hits, 2 walks) in that time and has 24 strikeouts.

Last night in the 8th inning of the Angels game, our long national nightmare concluded.

    Mike Trout became eligible.

    League rankings:
    Second in hitting
    First in steals
    Third in OBP
    Fifth in OPS
    First in Our <3s

I think you need to tell our East Coast posters a little more about this Trout kid.
