I was told that blacks no longer play organized baseball.

Pirates are tied 2-2 with Verlander and Detroit in the 8th. They are really getting quality pitching. Not a bad ballclub at all.

Indeed, the Bucs started the day a game out of first place. Is this the year the streak ends?

I've got to think their opportunity to make a run is dependent on the front office finally landing a trade-deadline deal for some middle-of-the-order protection for McCutchen.

Who just might be the right choice for MVP right now.

They did. A respectable showing, reminding of the strong '72 club, including Allen and Goose.

I'm the farthest thing from a White Sox fan, but those 1970s red pinstripe uniforms are great. They were obviously the inspiration for the black pinstriped home uniforms they switched to partway through the last Comiskey Park season and have worn ever since, but I really like them.

I think when my 5-year-old becomes a 15-year-old, we'll have to find the day that the Cubs and Sox are home the same day and hit both ballparks.

They wear those for every Sunday home game.

Youkilis traded to White Sox for Lillibridge & Stewart.
Best of luck, but I think it was his time to leave the Red Sox. Middlebrooks is the future, for better or for worse.
