I have said before that Ozzie is the greatest defensive shortstop of all time. Even Jetes would tell you that. But if we're talking all-around game - meaning hitting, baserunning, fielding, leadership, clutch ability - it's Jeter #1, far ahead of Ozzie.

Do we know whether Strasburg intended to hit him in the head, or if he was aiming to hit him lower and the pitch slipped?

Either is possible. My initial point is that he should be more careful if he is going to intentionally hit somebody and it wouldn't surprise me if he threw at Scutaro on purpose after Espinosa was hit twice.

I'm not saying that Strasburg intentionally aimed for the head. I'm disputing Hokie's claim that it would be acceptable if he did.

OK. Now I get what you're saying. I didn't see the other guy's post.

Wow. Looks like there was well over a dozen people at the Astros game tonight.

The game didn't exactly suffer when batters who stepped in against Drysdale or Gibson didn't know if they might get a 95 in the earhole.

Meh. Different era. We're sensitized now or something.

It's not the game I'm concerned about. It's some poor schmuck ending up with brain damage because some jackass wanted to send a message. More and more pitchers keep throwing harder and harder. The risk for such an injury just keeps increasing.

Saving their cash in eager anticipation of not watching them suck in the American League next season?

    So pitchers shouldn't throw hard?
