Well ... it's putting stock in a 21-game sample size ... but it's the most important 21 games. I think that's got to square up the debate a bit.

I'd rather have my ballclub winning Game X in October than in mid-June.

The other thing is, you're taking the best (or, more accurately, hottest) team in each league, so there's no accounting for depth. It's pretty tough to argue the National League can measure up to the American League in terms of depth.

Oh, and having pitchers hit is stupid. :D

I agree the AL is the better league. I think it clear. I think the best in the NL can compete pretty well, though.

Nats played the AL East in Interleague. The division that is so so so so so good our pal Manky says it should be assured two or even three postseason slots. Went 10-8. Two sweeps, got swept once.

Of course, right now down 6-0 to the Rockies, they couldn't beat a Rookie League team.

Edwin Jackson has every possibility of being a human batting-practice machine for most of the rest of the season. He's been hittable before ... he'll be hittable again.

Damn, Tommy Milone would look mighty fine in that rotation. Although, of course, if they had him, they wouldn't have Gio.

OoP, I see you neglected to cite a stat with more efficacy.

The nerds are going to come back with much revenge, and build a better stat. This is called troubleshooting. WAR never did undergo proper beta testing. Who could have foreseen a team that overplayed the shift would make it go bananas?

That's all I was saying with my Special Olympics crack.

But in reality, I don't discount the "scoreboard!" aspect of the World Championships lately.

So, the stat geeks seek vengeance on the comic book club president after he wronged them? This seems like a terrific addition to the Revenge of the Nerds saga.

Burnett just won his eighth consecutive start. Whod'a figured.

See, Manky, that's what happens when he has a REAL shortstop behind him like ... like ... uh ... oh, yeah. Clint Barmes.

    Like Clint Barmes.

The run support is a bigger surprise than his quality.

Mets couldn't have picked a better time to play four in LA. They'll still find a way to screw it up and drop at least 3 of the 4.
