The Yankees' hitters under Kevin Long in 2012:

    Jeter: .304 avg (career .315)
    Granderson: .241 (career .268)
    ARod: .269 (career .301)
Cano: .307 (career .308...close but he's in his prime and should be winning batting titles)
    Tex: .248 (career .280)
    Martin: .192 (career .283)

Let's hear your defense of Kevin Long. Last year we heard about how he turned Grandy into a power hitter...well what has he done this year? Everyone is hitting below their career averages. Jeter started the season off hotter than ever but prolonged exposure to Long has dropped his average down to around .300.

Irrelevent information. I posted the stats for the heart of the Yankees lineup, their top hitters. All of them except Jeter are having below average years.

well when ARod gets hurt again Chavez is the 3B and who knows when Gardner's coming back so Ibanez and A Jones hopefully can learn from Mr. Long.

Giants four shutouts in a row, 36 consecutive scoreless innings. I am sure it's not a record, but still damn impressive. Cain goes tomorrow.

Also tonight, and the whole season, reaffirms my belief that no smarter money will be spent anywhere in MLB in the next few years than Bumgarner's 5/35 extension.

Four straight shutouts is a first for the Giants. Team's longest scoreless inning streak was 35 innings in 1960 over five games. Last team to throw five straight shutouts was the Orioles in 1995.

Last run the Giants gave up was the walkoff homer by the A's on Sunday. Giants also overtook the Dodgers for the NL West lead.

The Giants come to DC next week, going to see them Wednesday morning. Yes, Wednesday morning.

The Giants have an absolute shit-load of pitchimg -- they're even loaded in the minors with a bunch of kids who are getting cock-blocked at the major-league level -- but at some point, they're going to have to turn it into a few more bats.

And I agree totally on Bumgarner. What a steal. To think, the Giants could've nearly signed four of him for what they shelled out on rag-arm Zito.
