Giants' shutout streak, four games and 36 innings, ends on the first pitch when Cozart takes Matt Cain deep.

  2. Don't have a link for this but Joe Morgan just argued on ESPN radio that Orioles 1st baseman Chris Davis could be considered a better pitcher than Cliff Lee this season because Davis has more wins.

The FanGraphs WAR (the less volatile one) has MVP candidate Joey Votto ranked No. 1 in baseball with a 4.8. That's a pretty accurate reading.

And even without a link, I find this totally believeable.

And a homer in the ninth by Sandoval prevents the Giants from being shut out.

Dodgers are going to be shut out again (it's top of the 9th now): It'll be a 48-inning stretch in which they scored in one of those innings (2 runs in the 4th inning Thursday).
    R.A. Dickey "baffled" them tonight, a 3-hitter.

EDIT: Dickey leaves after 8 with 10 strikeouts. Hefner completes a 4-hitter.

The Dodgers suck right now. Their lineup has no one that any ML pitcher should be slightly afraid of.

Maybe if their fathers were in there someone would fear names like Van Slyke and Gwynn, but without Ethier and Kemp, they are fucked.

And who the hell is this Cuban kid they gave a shitload of money to? Is he any good?

Great. Now why can't people agree on which WAR to use? Because the other one has Brett Lawrie as the best player in the game. Oh wait. We can't use WAR to rank players, right?

    What a load of crap.

The blogosphere has generally been aware that b-r's WAR is one to stay away from.

I figured all along Texas' rotational youth was a potential Achilles' heel of this thing, and I said it before anyone else in the Doucheoplex did.

So far, it's been all good, even with 3 of 5 first-week starters on the DL.

Harrison and Darvish are racing to see who'll be in the Cy Young hunt, and Cobra Lewis will keep you in the game as long as the jet stream is not howling. Feldman is a fave whipping boy but he's won 2 in a row. Grimm is not ready for the bigs yet, but he helped once in two outings.

Holland, Lowe, Ogando and Feliz should all be back after the ASB. That's like a deadline trade without the trade and without the deadline.

Living in the PNW, it's hard to believe a team can score less runs than the Mariners, but I guess the Giants struggled for quite a while in the spring.

After being shut out yet again at home tonight, the Mariners are batting .197 as a team in Seattle.

Bully for the blogosphere. The statheads still can't agree on one WAR. Some apparently don't even think it can be used to rank players. Seems to me, they are a long way from presenting us with a version of WAR that is worth a damn.
