But would you say scouting is useless because the same scale is used to describe different opinions, and some of those opinions are really wrong?

Trust me, I am very used to it.

Somewhere out there in cyberland I have been told a zillion times that there is a place where arrogant, condescending, mean-spirited, hate mongering stat geeks go out of their way to kill traditionalists' sacred cows, insult their intelligence, undermine their manhood, hurt their feelings, and stick their toungues out at their puppies. Thankfully for the anti-saber crowd here, brett and I aren't like that.

Hate it all you want - just promise that you won't lump all of us into the same stereotypical boat.

Now, don't you get angry. You're one of the ones who keep their head screwed on through all the bullshit.

I ask respectfully how a mostly reasonable discussion of baseball metrics is any more tedious than the healthcare shootout going on in other parts of the site. I don't understand why discussions can't happen simultaneous and independent of each other. I'll hang up and listen.

Wouldn't get within 10 miles of the healthcare shootout, to begin with.

I'd rather cup Bryce Harper's nuts in my hands.

The visual explodes on the page.

I'd say scouts have to go ahead and use the best that they have. We don't need WAR and until a better version of it comes out, I don't think it is worth bothering with.

There seem to be some posters here who think that would be a good thing. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Strasburg leaves after three innings in Atlanta, heat-related issues. He wasn't particularly happy with the decision.

Anthony Rizzo, first home run as a Cub.

If you squint and only look at position players, you can see the Cubs organization starting to get to where it needs to be.

SS's issues were he couldn't throw strikes.
