I could have sworn I heard "Run To The Hills" a few batters ago! Glad to hear I wasn't imagining it!

Well, in his defense, Chris Volstad was pitching.
    Gotta know your audience (/duckingcubfan).

Thanks for the earlier help re: MLB.tv. Another question: Can one turn on the box score or pitch tracker options when viewing a game in full screen?

The Pirates have the fourth-best record in all of baseball.

Is the NL Central just that bad this year? I mean, even more than in years past?

It's also the only place where opposing base coaches (and sometimes umpires) get assaulted by the fans. #RememberTomGamboa

I'll get to see Wil Myers in Sunday's Futures Game... and I best be seeing him make his Royals debut a week from Friday. Seriously, what the fuck are they waiting on? Jeff Francouer to start being selective? Jarrod Dyson to hit a home run?

Wil Myers had a brief stay here in his early minor-league career. So impressive.

So 19-11 vs. the Central, and 27-25 vs. the rest of the schedule.

After three with the Giants this weekend, the Pirates don't play another team with a winning record until August.

Or 27-19 against the rest of the schedule minus Baltimore and the Dodgers. :)

  12. The Pirates caught the Dodgers when they were playing well, and it was on a very early west coast road trip for them. No excuses, just something I take into consideration with this. Baltimore just hammered them. What I love about this team is they seem to be able to play it both ways. They can pitch and, lately, can hit when they need it. I care much more about what they do against the Reds and Cardinals, and they are playing them .500 combined, so I'm pretty happy about that. Plus team chemistry seems to be very good with this group, but I put more weight into that than most. But I keep reminding myself . . . it's a looooooooong season.

And I'm still waiting for Hanrahan to fall apart. Despite his success rate, he's not the same pitcher he was a year ago. His control is pretty awful and his fastball has dropped both in velocity and mph, at least 2 mph slower than last year. So guys can let the slider go by and sit on the fastball that they couldn't catch up to last season.

Maybe this is my Pirates pessimism coming in, I'm just waiting for it to happen knowing that we don;t have another viable option for closer outside of Grili, who is perfect for the 8th inning role.
