Well, that could be interesting, and here's why.

Storen's going to be back after the All-Star break, but Davey says Clippard is his closer for now. In fact, Storen may not be able to move into the setup role, because Sean Burnett and Craig Stammen have been too effective.

In other words, there's a middle-relief glut in D.C. Lots of good arms, not enough spots to use them.

If there ever was a situation where you could work on just getting 4-5 innings out of the starter, it would seem the Nats are a great candidate for it.

The Royals weren't going to win tonight, because Jonathan Sanchez sucks at life, not to mention pitching.

But it certainly isn't helping that Smyly is getting a strike zone the size of the fucking moon.

Yankees-Sox are 6-6 in the bottom of the 2nd. Gosh, it would be great if both these teams were abolished.

And here I thought it was the rivalry that all other rivalries aspire to. ;)

The game has been nuts. I turned it on in the bottom of the first, just before the Sox tied it the first time.

Start a pitcher just to get 2-3 innings then bring in Strasburg to go 4-5 innings until the closer.

Orioles want Greinke badly. Don't find that too surprising.

Flash forward to 2031. Strasburg has 213 career wins, three Cy Youngs, and the Nats have never, ever seen the World Series. Wonder what he'd think?
They'll hold him back forever. Sooner or later, he'll get hurt (even a minor one, which no one escapes) again. And the Nats will freak.

Probably think he had a hell of a career. And made a shitton of money.

  10. Ever since I heard they were going to shut him down after 160 innings, this is immediately what I thought they should do. I know pitchers need rhythm on the mound, but iys not like the Nats success has taken very one by suprise. A lot of people thought they would make some noise. If you know that going in, you want your ace at seasons end.

Pedro Alvarez just hit one of the longest home runs I've seen at PNC. That was absolutely crushed.

Edit: 457 feet is the estimated distance. Also, that was the first time a left-hander hit a HR off Javier Lopez since 2008.

three hours and 25 minutes to play seven innings. Love that Yankee-Red Sox rivalry.
