Remember, Devil 93 believes the Nats medical staff is part of a conspiracy to stay employed. They simply can't be trusted.

I was looking for the Twins' side. Here's a quality copy of the Rangers one:

Desmond hit one damn near into the restaurant beyond the left-center fence yesterday and I noted if not for an injured oblique, it might have landed in the parking deck about 100 yards further back.

To be fair, it did come up in June before anyone dreamed he'd be an All-Star. It was starting to hurt, they were going to keep an eye on it, yada yada yada. Obviously it can't be hurting too badly. But they didn't want to take a chance. I don't see Desmond as the type to bluff his way out of an All-Star game. It's not like he's guaranteed a bunch more.

I will say he's developed into a much better player than I ever thought he could be. Much better. Let's say he does end up in the 30HR, 100-RBI range and the Nats hold on. I know he's no Votto (or even Jetes). But doesn't he have to at least be in the MVP discussion?

There is simply no possible way a guy could be healthy enough to play (and succeed) but still have a nagging injury he wants to rest.

The Desmond thing is weak. Very weak. They say he wants to "rest" but going to the All Star game will provide him with 99% of the rest he'd get in the Bahamas. He'll spend 20 minutes in the cage and another 1 or 2 at bats in the game plus an inning or two of defense. If he can play damn near the entire first half with the nagging injury, he can suck it up and play in the All Star Game.

That said, it's the All Star Game. Who gives a shit?

He does not have a nagging injury. He's trying to avoid a nagging injury.

I hope Desmond enjoys every all star weekend off for the rest of his career.

    He's hitting .282.

Unless Wright, Votto and McCutchen totally fall apart, he's going to have to hit at least .320 this season to be considered.

Didn't say he would or should win, just that he's put himself in position to enter the conversation. A 30HR, 100-RBI SS is not something to be taken lightly.

    And .282 doesn't suck.

My old memory fades - weren't the Pirates in pretty good position last year at this time? Seems they are better constructed to last this year.
