He also missed some time, but you have a point. He has done this very quietly. Today's start pushes him ahead of Jered Weaver for the lowest ERA in MLB.

The Cubs, over the last 3 weeks, have been playing as well as anyone in baseball. Now 11-4 in their last 15 games, and that includes 10 games against Wild Card contenders. Other than getting swept in AZ a couple of weeks back, they've been playing pretty well since they took 2 of 3 from the White Sox in mid-June.

Dempster, Maholm & Travis Wood have all put together several really solid starts in a row. It looks like Dempster and Matt Garza will both be gone in the next couple of weeks.

Perfect timing to ruin their draft/IFA pool position once they've stunk too long to have any chance at an adequate season.

If they fire sale hard enough, maybe they can still salvage it.

And yet they're still 14 games back in the weak-ass Central.

Dempster could help a team like the Indians.

I hope the Clevelands win the division, if for no other reason than OoP will look like Wile E. Coyote again when the product explodes in his face.

Freak looks better tonight. Four-hit shutout through seven.

Pitching against the Astros will do that for a guy.

Don't tell that to Zack Greinke.
