No, but maybe you back off on a ball that is going foul.

Considering Mauer's a career .341 hitter with RISP and .382 this year, his low RBI totals speak more of the failure around him in the lineup.

Is this Manky's long-lost cousin from Minnesota?

On July 18, 1928, Babe Ruth hit a 3 run home run with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat the White Sox 9-8.
Ted Lyons took the loss, pitching 8 2/3 innings.Wilcy Moore was the winning pitcher in relief for Waite Hoyt, who went 7 innings.

  10. This is really about nothing important, but something I have noticed. For whatever reason, the Pirates ballgirls are un-freakin-believable with the gloves. They routinely snag shorthops that are hit foul, liners headed into the crowd, etc. Mostly because they get a lot of local college softball players, so i get that. But I'm watching the pirates/rockies game at Coors field. The two guys there, every time a ball comes their way, the first thing they do is grab their little bench, and then they run away. What the hell?

Maybe they weren't sure if it was a foul ball?

  12. No, they knew it, just wanted to avoid getting hit. :) back to baseball.

Pirates second baseman Neil Walker's 17 game hitting streak just ended on a very nice play by the Rockies shortstop. He's brought his average during that time from in the .240's to just now below .300 again, which is pretty impressive given the at bats he's compiled. Walker has 99 hits on the year. 33 to right, 33 to center, and 33 to left. Not bad.
