Life post-humidor has not been good to the Rockies.

Oh, I agree with you there. He is earning the boos.

I'm just saying that Jones is full of it when he says that Cabrera isn't with the Braves any more because of his behavior. Cabrera isn't in Atlanta any more because he didn't produce when he was there.

The two seem tied together though -- he didn't produce because he was fat and lazy.

  4. I think what they are doing in Saint Louis is nothing short of remarkable. They lose the best hitter in the game, their hall of fame manager, and go through the injuries they have been going through, and to be very much in contention with all of that at the All-Star break is just crazy to think about. I wouldn't put anything past them to make another run. In the position of the Pirates, you can think about the injuries over there and with Cinci and start to field a plan for the Bucs to win the division, but Saint Louis has to be sitting there going, We can win this . . . it's the Pirates.

It's going to be interesting the rest of the way. We are going to get to the point where the head to head games against these teams are going to decide it the rest of the way, so I'll be curious to see how loose the Pirates play in that scenario when they play them. If the Pirates or Cardinals get swept in one of those series', they may be done. I could see Cincy gettign swept by us or the Cards and still winning the division on talent alone and once they get Votto back.

One thing is for sure, I am glad I can actually be thinking these thoughts at this point in the season.

But that isn't what Jones talked about. He said the way Cabrera is behaving now is why he is no longer with the Braves. I think the Braves would have been happy to put up with him acting like an asshole if he was hitting like he does now.

Nats are making it a little interesting. 9-4 in the 8th, first and second with Mets rookie Josh Edgin coming on, Harper in the on-deck circle.

EDIT: And now Lombardozzi beats out an infield single. Bases loaded, two out to Harper. Who promptly flies out to right. Never mind.

Cubs are apparently about to trade Ryan Dempster. They picked up a nothing AAA spot starter from the Red Sox to pitch tomorrow, and had a guy from their AAA team meet the team in St. Louis in case the Red Sox guy doesn't make it. It's supposed to be Dempster's start, so this has to be about as done a deal as it could get without being actually done. Dodgers or Braves seem like they are the top destinations.

If Reed's going to come in after he blows it, have him start the inning. Makes no sense.

None whatsoever. Thornton should never see the ninth inning. Why he keeps getting chances to prove he can't handle that pressure is beyond me.
