Alex Anthopolous was just on the radio, said Happ would start in the 'pen.

Oh really? That's surprising to say the least. Why would he go pick-up two relievers when the starting rotation needs a lot of help. Seems strange to me.

Because J.A. Happ isn't good enough to start in the AL East.

Seems the one area they really want to address is long relief, maybe Happ is in that role for now. There is some speculation that Cecil will be on his way out and Happ can take his spot in the rotation. Cecil has not been good since being recalled.

I imagine Happ will be replacing Villanueva' role has the long man relief.

Also, you're giving Cecil way to much credit, he hasn't been good for a couple of years now ;D.

    True enough.

Honestly, this is the truth. J.A. Happ is a very interchangeable piece.

Cecil is filler because of injuries. His career is finished. The dumb shit lost all that weight and his muscle mass along with it. Maybe he can reinvent himself as a loogy elsewhere, but no one sitting around 89 mph is good enough to start for any team, even the Astros.

I know this much is true. I would have a hard time thinking he could get AAA hitters out with his shit. Wonder what happened to him at the start of last season when his velocity just disappeared. I was convinced he was heading for Tommy John surgery.

They should have dealt him a few offseasons ago when he was reported to have a decent trade market. Being a shitballer is one thing, but when all of that is up in the zone it's time to cut bait.

Don't sleep on Carpenter as a possible contributor for the Jays.

There are control issues to hammer out, but he's a converted catcher who has averaged around a strikeout per inning in the majors. Wouldn't be stunned to see him vie for the closer job out of ST since Santos and his shoulder have a long road to a full recovery.

If you guys think Cecil sucks, you're gonna LOVE JA Happ then. And by the way, his name is pronounced "Jay," which is another reason he deserves scorn.
