Braves acquiring Dempster now being reported by multiple sources, with their No. 3 prospect Randall Delgado coming back to the Cubs. I don't think the Braves did anything wrong, but that's way more value than I expected the Cubs to get for three months of Ryan Dempster.

    Dempster trade on hold.

Also, Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to Detroit for Jacob Turner. Good trade for the Tigers.

And they swapped comp picks. The system works, people. It works!

I thought if a comp pick was traded, it lost half its slot value. That'd be odd to trade them for each other if true.

Ichiro to the Yankees? Where did that come from? Am I being leveled?

Getting anything for Ichiro at this point is a win for the Mariners. Otherwise, they were going to get stuck having to sign him to keep the fans happy and pay for his rapidly declining skills or find a way to quietly shove one of their most popular players ever out the door.

This makes no sense for the Yankees to me.

Shows how far Ichiro's stock has fallen for Seattle — traded for a seventh starter and a guy the Yankees picked up off waivers from the A's less than a month ago.

Its cost effective considering Swisher may need to go on DL, you keep Ibanez out of the outfield and he's better than the guys they have in Triple-A (Chris Dickerson, Jack Cust, Kosuke Fukudome).

Not just Turner. Also catcher Rob Brantley and pitcher Brian Flynn.

Seems like a bit much to give up for a pitcher in his walk year.

I'm not sure he's better than any of the Triple-A guys you mentioned at this point.

Jack Cust is still in organized baseball???

Also, I agree with fredi .... this gets the Mariners out of a huge bind in the offseason.

And of course, Ichiro just has to switch dugouts tonight, since the Yankees are in Seattle.
