They can always move Ogando into the rotation when he comes off the DL. (He may already be off).

Maybe so. He literally has no power. He's hit three home runs in five minor league seasons, and I think one of those was inside the park. So he's not much different than the guys in front of him, I suppose. He's done well enough in the minors to keep moving up, not quite enough to stand out and break through. Since they're getting to the fish or cut bait stage on him, I was thinking he might get a shot sooner or later. Now it looks like his easiest route to the majors is blocked, but he might be too good to just cut yet. Sucks for him.

Leyland is just convinced that Santiago cannot be a MLB regular (although his numbers indicate he'd be about league-average) and he also seems utterly set on finding PT for Raburn no matter what, and then they've also got Worth and Kelly, so for Henry to even get a shot at a utility-man spot with the Tigers would seem a longshot at this point.

I would imagine over the wintertime they'll cut bait on a couple of those guys -- you can't keep 5 utility guys on the roster -- so maybe that would be his chance.

Ogando did pitch poorly that night. Feldman pitched great tonight against Boston.

This is what lost them the WS last year though. Inconsistency.

Dempster is a FA after this season. He's a pure rental. Why would it matter where spring training is? Come November, he can go to whichever team he wants.

I know whoever gets him wants to sign him to an extension, but he's 35 years old and having a career year.

Hope so. Even if it's just a cup of coffee or a spot as the 25th guy on the roster, he's the kind of guy you'd like to see get a chance. He's paid some minor league dues.

Messr. Baggarly wins again Monday, continues Tuesday. He has won $40K so far -- as one of his beat colleagues noted, one out for Barry Zito.

    The Atlanta Boomtown Rats?

Braves are now 0-12 on Mondays this year.

  10. Astros fan here and this may be a while late, but here goes

J.A. Happ misses bats...until he doesn't. Good K rates but gets hit hard when he leaves it up. Doesn't amp much past 91, sometimes hits 93. Just never seems like he was ever going to get it together. One of those guys that you see a three-starter in him but winds up becoming Quad-A filler or a fifth starter.

    Lyon....yeah. He's Brandon Lyon.

I guess because he likes being at home during spring training.

Verlander has a house in Lakeland for the Tigers' spring training. I'm sure that makes it a lot easier on him.

I dunno, we'll see what happens.
