That's what I thought when I first saw it. But you can see it hit his hand when they slow the video down.

Dodgers also get Randy Choate. Marlins get Eovaldi and another minor leaguer.

And the minor leaguer isn't in the Dodgers' top 10. They really wanted to get rid of Hanley, but I have to imagine they could have gotten a better package,

I guess we'll all need to tune into "The Franchise" tonight on Showtime to get some unique behind-the-scenes insight as to what the crack management team of Loria and Samson were thinking when they all gathered around touch-screen speaker phones with the cameras rolling to make this very important decision.

That's all it took to get Ramirez? A fifth starter and some minor leaguer? Sheesh.

Marlins got robbed big time there. Selig should call Stern up and ask him how to overturn trades.

Not to mention, for all the hype of the Marlins this year, they sure as hell have fallen flat on their face.

The price does seem way too low, though Ramirez is in the middle of a second consecutive disappointing season and this time it can't be written off as injury related.

Buehrle is the only one of the big free agent additions to pan out. Jose Reyes has been decent, but not great, and Bell has been a disaster.

True, but you'd think they would have considered the long haul with these guys with their contracts. It hasn't even been a year and they're already traded the guy who they were considering the face of their franchise. Show a little patience, people.

My main point was, what does it matter where spring training is for a team Dempster is traded to THIS YEAR.

He's a free agent after the season. Come November, he can sign with any team that has spring training in Arizona, no matter who he plays for over the next two months.

Does Aramis Ramirez have more years on his contract?

Two more years and a mutual option for a third. $10m next year, $16m in 2014 and $14m option for 2015.

Oh well. Anyone have Charlie Hayes' contact information?

As a silver lining, there was some concern that Ichiro's presence moves Jones/Ibanez back to DH which would mean having to play ARod too much in the field without sufficient DH days off. Not a problem.

ARod's injury got me thinking about this: Do the Mets intend to re-sign David Wright after the 2013 season at $16m or more per year on the wrong side of age 30? If not, would they consider moving him this season when they can get some serious value for him?

I don't think they'd be able to work a trade with the Yankees -- the teams almost never deal with each other and I think the Mets would expect too much in return for a guy the Yankees won't need next season or in the long-term -- but it might not be a bad idea for them to move him.

Wright is making $15m this season with a club option of $16m next year, making it an attractive contract.

My guess is that after letting Reyes walk without even making a formal offer, the Mets would get killed by their fans and the tabloids for moving arguably the team's most popular and best player. But they're 9.5 games back in the NL East and I think 5 out in the wild card. They do not have a championship roster this season and I find it hard to see them making a serious World Series challenge next season.

If they could package Wright and the corpse of Jason Bay for four or five prospects, thereby unloading some serious salary and getting some potentially valuable players, is that something they'd consider?
