The Daily News (actually, it might be the New York Post, now that I think about it) has reporters and writers and splits bylines for many of its stories. It's an old-school notion, mostly, but one they've preserved. So it's likely that two or three reporters and two or three writers worked on the story, probably because it came in chunks. There's a good chance one of the bylined writers contributed one quote.

AAA manager Tony DeFrancesco named interim manager.

But, Mills got a bad deal. No one could win in that situation. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8282197/houston-astros-name-tony-defrancesco-interim-manager-place-fired-brad-mills

In light of recent developments, this is pretty damn funny. A_QB jumping the gun on something related to PED use? That's impossible!

And you living in a naive world of tainted sample is even funnier.

There is more of a chance that Santa exists than Braun didn't use. He got off on a procedural error, not a tainted sample.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Braun never directly disputed the positive test when he appealed, right? He appealed on the basis of a compromised chain of custody, as I recall.

Apparently, you didn't watch any sports news around that time. Braun publicly disputed the results of the test. When it came time for the official appeal, he wisely chose to go after the chain of custody first because it was easier to prove.

It's amazing how few of you understand the point. What I'm talking about is having actual standards before we make accusations.

Did I ever say Braun didn't use? No. I said I don't know. Silly me, I actually like to see things proven first. That's the problem. Far too many people talking out of the wrong ends of their anatomies on this issue.

A_QB is one of the worst offenders. He has been throwing out accusations of PED use that he can't back up for years, almost always against players who happen to play for the Cubs' division rivals. You'd think he wouldn't bother given how bad they suck.

He jumped the gun AGAIN with his comment about Cabrera. We already know that Cabrera lied and denied the positive test when word first got out. He only admitted to using something he shouldn't have used once it was clear. Now we have this other story, though again, it seems like there is still a good bit of evidence to be gathered. Honestly, we didn't need this story to know that A_QB was a little quick on the draw again. If he had done a few minutes of research that first day he would have known that Cabrera lied when first confronted.

I'd say something along the lines of, "Nothing happening right now in Kansas City," but there's no fucking way Jeremy Guthrie throws three more no-hit innings.

There is absolutely no doubt among the rational and reasonable people of the world that Braun used. We all agree that it's fine he got off, because MLB had some sloppy language in its testing rules, but there's simply no way he didn't take the stuff.

Funny. I didn't realize I was surrounded by scientists. And you are STILL missing the point.

Pirates-Cards heading to the top of the 17th. Only 11 pitchers, combined, used so far, which means we're probably a few innings away from Rafael Furcal and Pedro Alvarez being locked in an epic late-inning duel.
