You're dazzled by stuff and strikeouts. That's fine. Doesn't change the fact that a few others belong ahead of him. Kershaw for one. Weaver is in the discussion even with his stinker last time out. Hell, Johnny Cueto has been better this season and Strasburg's track record before this year is very limited.

That's the kind of acting-like-kids moment out of the Bay Area that I like seeing on this thread.

Speaking of elite pitchers, as we were earlier, it sure looks like Adam Wainwright is getting back to that level. He has now given up two or fewer earned runs in seven consecutive starts. I know the Astros are a disaster, but Wainwright still deserves some credit for his dominant performance tonight, striking out 12 in a complete-game shutout.

Giants win second game of series with Dodgers in LA 4-1. Giants hang on after a run-saving throw from Pagan in center to cut down a run at the plate and Bochy having enough sense to pull Lincecum at the first sign of trouble.

Cesar Romero would have a better chance finding the strike zone these days than Ricky. George Romero too. Actually Night(s) of the Living Dead would be an appropriate title for the video chronicling Ricky's disastrous season.

So you're saying Ricky Romero knows the strike zone about as well as Ed Romero?

It's hard for me to put Strasburg in the elite of the elite until he can pitch into the eighth inning. ONCE!! JUST ONCE!!!

Strikeouts are nice and all -- and they get the crowd juiced -- but goddamn do they run the fuck out of his pitch count. I know, I know...it's not his fault. Guys just can't hit his stuff. But still...very frustrating.

He was obviously fine after the delay, the first batter proved that. Martin Prado is a pretty good hitter and he made Prado look silly. I wish they'd let him go into the seventh last night. One more inning, 15 or so more pitches, wouldn't have hurt him.

When he's on, he's as unhittable as anyone. Anyone. He needs to be on a little more consistently and, yes, he needs to be stretched out some. Next year, I guess. But dude is 15-5 with an ERA under 3. Should have a 16th, as he was the starter in the blown 9-0 game (Nats would be 11-3 vs. Braves without that but I digress - they're still up seven games). He can still get to 20, even with a shutdown.

Best in the game? Not yet, can't make that case. I think most Nats fans are satisfied, though, with what he's delivered for them.

And I'll stop now before I turn into MankyStrasburg

He can get to 20 if he wins every start he has left. He will not. Not consistent enough, like you said.

A beauty to watch, for sure. Unfortunately, it only lasts 6 innings.

Little Nicky needs to get it up in October -- JUST ONCE -- before mouthing that kind of drool.
