White Sox win 2-1 to sweep the Yankees.

Chris Sale gives up three hits, one walk while striking out thirteen in 7 2/3 innings. Sale now 15-4 on the year with a 2.65 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP.

    Damn good.

Sale's stuff is obviously tremendous, but with that God-awful herky-jerky delivery, finding the ball has to be an absolute bitch. He's all elbows and knees and shit, then it's either 95 or an off-speed knee-buckler.

Watching him absolutely overwhelm Ichiro tonight made me wonder how he's ever given up a hit to a left-handed hitter.

The cameras just showed Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis front row at Dodger Stadium. I had no idea about this development but I am happy that Kelso and Jackie ended up together.

And in the big series no one's talking about, Giants sweep the Dodgers in LA.

I know a lot of folks have been hopping on the Dodgers' bandwagon since picking up Victorino and Cabrera became a webmaster, but, after watching this series, it's hard to see LA winning the division.

Giants struck early, scoring in the first inning every game. And their pitching shut down the Dodgers. Matt Kemp has been in a deep slump since vacation replacement ump Angel Campos threw him out of a game in Pittsburgh for cheering for Andre Ethier.

Went to the Chipper Jones Farewell in D.C. last night. Nats did a nice job of the presentation, Braves did a nice job in the game. Medlen is a pretty good pitcher. He had Tommy John two weeks before Strasburg. Guess what? The Braves have him on a 160-innings limit. Of course, he won't hit it because he spent so much time in the bullpen but the point remains - limiting young pitchers coming off Tommy John is not novel or radical.

I suspect it wasn't Chipper's final game at Nats Park (where he hit the first home run).

I was there, too. Only I got PUMMELED by the shitty rain storm before the game. Just awful. Local weathermen aren't having the best week.

The Larry thing was fine. Lasted about 20 minutes too long, though. Jesus. Took forever. Larry did reveal his man-crush on Zimmerman, though, so that was cool.

Harper needs to quit playing like he's 19. Jeez.

Limiting young pitchers in that situation isn't radical or new, but I can't think of an example like this one. You've got a guy who is already among the top pitchers in the league and a team with the best record in baseball. Can you think of a pitcher on that kind of team who was shut down for the playoffs as Strasburg could be?

At the very least, I think the Nats could have done a better job managing his innings all season. Give him an extra day or two of rest when possible and perhaps even skip a start occasionally. Sure, it is tougher to make the playoffs using him that way, but it would also be a heck of a lot more difficult to win in the playoffs without him.

Is Tyler Skaggs the son/nephew of former Orioles catcher Dave Skaggs?
