Gonzalez is also having the worst season of his career, and by a fairly large margin. There's at least an equal chance he doesn't live up to the contract as that he does.

It's funny, when the trade came down one of the stat-head sites overlaid his Petco home runs on a map of Fenway and everyone went gaga about how many he was going to hit.

He's perfect for that market. A Mexican-American star who gets it.

John Smoltz was the third-best pitcher on his team for most of his career. That means nothing.

 

His wife is fairly attractive. And by fairly, I mean, VERY.

 

I want so badly to hate her. But she has a real woman body, and works for a non-profit.
