Boy, the A's are frickin' rolling right now. Angels had two runs in to cut it to one run in the ninth, first and third with nobody out, and Jerry Blevins strikes out Morales and then gets the double play to end it. Oakland has won 11 road games in a row.

I am sure Baltimore's GM will get exec of the year, but this is Billy Beane's best work.

Awesome save by Blevins. I thought the A's were going to lose. Talk about a statement game.

Showalter will likely win AL manager of the year, but Bob Melvin deserves it.

I agree. Showalter has done a good job with the Orioles.

I'll throw in my traditional, token objection to "Team doing better than we thought" automatically meaning "Manager must be doing great job."

I think the A's are more a product of making great offseason moves, specifically in adding Josh Reddick and Yoenis Cespedes, who have accounted for most of the offense, and structuring the pitching staff intelligently.

The Orioles, though, are built out of mediocre pieces. They are in the bottom third in the majors in WAR and have a negative run differential. That speaks to luck and good management.

Just got done watching Trout in the A's-Angels series and, though I know I'm breaking zero new ground, it's just historic watching him. I just can't see how someone can be 21 years old and be that.

Anyway ... with 20 games left, good time to point out that he has 27 HRs and 45 SBs, on the verge of joining Barry Bonds and Eric Davis as the only players ever to go 30/50. Not bad for a guy who wasn't on the team for the first 20 games.

I don't see any possible way he doesn't win the MVP at this point.
