When you're only playing 19 games, maximum, an outstanding pitcher who was going to start a third of them might offer more than a "minuscule" contribution.

maybe miniscule isn't completely accurate but his point of not having Strasburg in the postseason is not good at all is a valid one. Bonds was pretty much shit in the postseason with the Giants until 02. the one series against the Mets (think it was 00) he was missing John Franco's 58-foot sliders by 2 feet. so i guess you could've said before the playoffs if Bonds goes down it helps the Giants.

He might. Or he might offer the same contribution as a lesser pitcher. The possibility of both must be taken into account.

Or, more likely, they play a lot less than 19 games.

Strasburg isn't your normal ace, though -- he was going six innings max even if he did stick around. So in the postseason, where games are close and down to the wire much (most?) of the time, his potential starts held much less impact.

Was that Brady Anderson with the O's shirt with the cut sleeves. Baltimore bases loaded no one out -- fail.

Machado hasn't been slumping of late. Guy scored the winning run on Wed night. He was slumping. He's picked it back up again.

That game went 14 innings for me today, I'm convinced. Day game. I was flying across country. Got in the rental car. Turned on XM. Listened to Machado drive in the winning run. Beautiful.

He was on a 2-for-20 skid entering that at-bat.

Not trying to spoil the O's championship celebtration but he didn't exactly bust out with a laser in the gap.

Hopefully, I don't turn into Manky here, but Max Scherzer is turning in a heck of a second half of the season.

    Since the All-Star Break: 8-1, 79.1 IP, 66 hits, 23 ER, 22 BB, 99 K, 2.61 ERA, .226 BAA.

    For the season: 16-6, 3.77 ERA, 176.2 IP, 168 hits, 74 ER, 55 BB, 220 K (11.2 per nine).
