And holy for the love of fuck.

Scioscia pulls Grienke, who was dominant, with one out in the ninth after giving up a single. Leading 2-0.

So Frieri comes in and gives up a bomb -- then gives up and inside-the-park home run and the Angels lose 3-2.

    Goodbye playoffs. Goodbye Scioscia?

I think Butler's bomb came on Frieri's first pitch. The game-winner was from Salvador Perez - already a stud and destined for great things, if he stays healthy.

Cardinal fail in the ninth inning. Delicious!

Dodgers win. Wild Card tie. Five teams within three games of the last spot.

but miller is a giant homer douche. dodgers rally in the bottom of the ninth, pull even with the cardinals in the WC, and i do believe kershaw is on the bump tomorrow.

I'm still looking, and nowhere on the Intertubes have I found it's a labrum problem. I've only seen hip inflammation, and he's seeing a specialist Tuesday.

Looks like that is the more accurate story.

I've never been a Scioscia basher, but man, his handling of the pitching staff has been pretty weird over the last week. I went to the game in Anaheim on Friday: Haren was down 3-1 to the A's, but really didn't pitch that bad (he gave a couple solo homers and a triple that led to a run). Scioscia came to take him out in the seventh with one out and nobody on, and I looked at the pitcher's board and Haren only had thrown 76 pitches. I think he did something like that the next night too.

Reading that was impossible to do without hearing Vin's voice. Absolutely brilliant.

I'll second it, post o' the year.

I'm not a Scioscia basher either. Love the guy. Has done great things the past decade. But it's been a befuddling year in the shadow of the Matterhorn.
