    My mistake :)

The Cardinals play them six times in the next two weeks, so hopefully they can hold off on getting to 110 for just a bit.

St. Louis got fat off that sorry team late in the season last year, as well.

Any loss to the 2012 Astros has to be called an upset.

As a Rangers fan, I'm looking forward to that 14-4 every year against the Disastros in the AL West.

    Kershaw possibly out until May.

Seems like there was a time when the argument against protecting Strasburg was always, "But Kershaw!!!"

    Oops.

So now Rizzo is going to justify shutting Strasburg down to guard against a hip flexor problem?

As for the Astros, the Giants went there recently when it was written they were something like 9-34 since the AS break and the Giants were down 2 in the 9th of the 1st game and I said "oh no, not against the Astros". Thankfully the Giants pulled that out and then swept them.

Texas now looks in much better shape than they did 24 hours ago and looking at the schedule, Oakland has to go against tough non-division teams in the next week which should balance whatever the Rangers do with the Angels and Mariners. I had Tampa tagged as the team to beat in the AL but its chances are slipping big now. Still, I don't see the team with the best record in the AL (Texas) making a third World Series under any circumstances short of an uncharacteristic hot streak by its pitching, which has been less than impressive, not to mention in the clinic. Thoughts?

The Rangers have three to four serviceable starters they can run out there -- Harrison, Darvish, Holland and Dempster -- in a playoff series. I don't get a sense that any other AL teams have early-90s Braves rotations at their disposal. If you look at the league-wide statistics, only one likely playoff team (Oakland) has a better team ERA. This Rangers fan knows that the field is always the better bet, but I don't see anything to suggest that Texas' chances are worse this time around than in 2010 or 2011.

Well it will help them that Feldman can be barred from the mound once October rolls around. I read something the other day that suggested that move may occur sooner than later.

Damn you, Batman, it is EXACTLY this type of classic post that keeps me coming back every day.

That move's been made ... Perez will take over for Feldman, who was projected to start two games against Oakland.

Unless the A's totally tank, it will come down the final week, since they still play each other seven times. Stay within three or four and you still have a very good shot.
